Pregnancy is a powerful, life-changing time. But let’s be honest — it can also feel overwhelming, exhausting, and physically uncomfortable. That’s where pregnancy yoga comes in.
As a local yoga teacher based in Doncaster, I run weekly pregnancy yoga classes designed to help you feel more at ease in your body, connect with your baby, and prepare for birth with confidence and calm.
In this blog, I’ll explain:
What pregnancy yoga is
Why it’s so beneficial (physically, emotionally and mentally)
What to expect in my Doncaster classes
How to know if pregnancy yoga is right for you
Whether you’re newly pregnant or further along in your journey, you are so welcome here.
What is Pregnancy Yoga?
Pregnancy yoga is a gentle, adapted form of yoga created to support your changing body throughout all stages of pregnancy. It’s not about bending yourself into strange shapes or pushing through discomfort — it’s about listening to your body and giving it what it needs.
In my classes, we focus on:
Breathwork to calm the nervous system and support labour
Gentle movements to ease aches and tension (especially in the hips, back, and pelvis)
Pelvic floor awareness and connection
Restorative poses to help you deeply relax
A sense of community and shared experience
The Benefits of Pregnancy Yoga
Here are just a few reasons so many women in Doncaster choose pregnancy yoga as part of their prenatal care:
Physical Ease
Pregnancy can cause discomfort — back pain, pelvic pressure, tight hips. Yoga gently stretches and strengthens your body to ease common pregnancy symptoms and help you feel more comfortable.
Emotional Support
You’re growing a whole human. That comes with a lot — emotionally and mentally. Pregnancy yoga gives you time and space to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with yourself.
Connection
Pregnancy yoga isn’t just about movement. It’s about bonding — with your body, your breath, and your baby. You’ll learn tools you can carry with you into labour, birth, and motherhood.
Community
One of the most beautiful things about my classes is the connection between women. You’ll meet others at a similar stage in their journey and feel supported and seen — no pressure, no judgement.
What to Expect in My Doncaster Pregnancy Yoga Classes
I offer weekly Pregnancy Yoga classes at Cantley Community Centre in Doncaster, currently running on Thursday evenings at 6pm.
The classes are relaxed, friendly and suitable for all trimesters (after 12 weeks). You don’t need to have done yoga before — many of the women who come to class are complete beginners.
Each session includes:
Grounding breathwork to settle and arrive
Gentle, pregnancy-safe yoga postures
Pelvic floor awareness and education
A restful guided relaxation to close
Time to chat and connect if you’d like
All equipment is provided, taking the stress away from you, you just need to show up and dedicate that time for yourself.
